Power plant applications
Transformers play a very important role in power transmission and distribution systems, and are widely used, mainly for boosting, reducing voltage, changing AC current, changing impedance, changing phase, etc.
As is well known, electricity is sent from the generator, through a step-up transformer, to the grid, and then through several stages of voltage reduction before reaching the user. In order to provide power for safe and economic development, power plants are connected to users through step-up and step-down transformers and high-voltage distribution lines both domestically and internationally, forming a unified power supply system. So in the power supply system, transformers are used for boosting and reducing voltage.
